Hello aichmomaniacs, one day if I am told to go camping all alone and I am allowed to carry only two of my favorite things. Can you guess what it will be? I shall tell you, it will be a knife and another knife!
Are you guys amazed by my choice of things? I know many of you must be surprised, but there are individuals like me who must have found this amusing.
Therefore, I decided to share my experience and knowledge about knives with all knife enthusiasts and common people interested in knowing about knives through Blades Journals. Also, I will be sharing links to tried and tested knives, which you can trust blindly and buy according to your interests.
Do you want to know how I became a aichmomaniac? Let me share my story of becoming an aichmomaniac. It all started with my father. My father is a bladesmith and works in a knife manufacturing factory. Our dining table talks were about knives for most of my childhood. Slowly, I started developing an immense fascination with knives.
My favorite pastime during weekends was with my father, having long conversations about knives, their types, how it’s made, etc. Observing my fascination with knives, one fine morning, when Halloween was around the corner, bought myself a paring knife.
Ah! It was the first knife that I owned. Also, one of the greatest memories of my lifetime was with that knife. My father and I carved my first Halloween pumpkin to make ‘jack-o-lantern’. The knife was from Victorinox and is still among my favorites.
After this there was no looking back, my inquisitiveness for knives increased day by day. Wherever I go, whatever I do there is always a search for new kinds of knives. During visits to my relatives or my friend’s place, I like to roam around their kitchens and garden areas to search for different kinds of knives. If I found one, I enjoyed enquiring about it to the respective people.
Everybody around me was equally encouraging my fascination. One of my most exciting memories of knives is this Swiss knife, we were on a camping trip with my cousins and close friends, and I saw a Swiss knife for the first time, as one of the cousins managed to arrange it. I was so happy that I ended up being around my cousin so that I could catch more and more glimpses of it and if given a chance to use it.
Years passed, and my engrossed interest in knives didn’t fade. I started visiting my father’s factory whenever I had free time after college. I started doing night shifts so that I could visit the factory. Also, then I started joining online courses to gain knowledge about different kinds of knife manufacturing techniques, materials used, and types of knives. These courses were insightful in the expansion of my knowledge about knives.
After completing my graduation, I am currently working in a sector in which there’s lots of travel involved in it. On every work trip, after office hours, I roam around the local streets to find any new type of knife. The most fascinating thing I observed was same type of knife had different uses in different regions. Hence, every work trip enhances my knowledge, keeping my quest to know about knives alive. All these years of fascination for knives, have empowered me to take not less than a second to know about material and country of origin is just a glimpse of it.
There, I decided to start blogging about it. So that all my knowledge will be of some use to at least some of my readers. I will also be sharing links to some of my favorite knives here.
